Sunflower Exposure is a shot where I purposely overexposed the petals for two reasons. First I wanted to bring out the central part along with the bee. Second I wanted to canvas the background in yellow and green colors to form more of a texture or pattern rather than a flower. I also wanted this photo to come out more saturated and bright. Very little Photoshop was used on this photo. You can see how one can really alter the color, texture, and brightness of a photo just by fiddling with the exposure. This was a fun shot.

My most favorite season in Japan is Autumn or Fall. The leaves are just gorgeous during this time not to mention the cooler air front just after the hot, humid summer. Fall in Japan is a time when I like to get out some of my unique lenses and head up into the Nagano Alps for some truly great photo opportunities. This Video is a collection of Autumn leaves taken with my Nikon DSLR using a wide variety of Nikon prime and zoom lenses. One of the many fun challenges is to come up with unique and creative ways to photograph leaves in Autumn. I hope you enjoy the video as much as I enjoyed photographing these subjects.

Sunflowers are starting to bloom here in Japan. There are many around where I live and I think they are quite fabulous to see. They can get pretty big and the yellow is very beautiful. This is just a short clip taken with the Creative Vado HD to give you an idea of how they can be seen in Japan. This particular shot was taken near Nagano city in a residential area. Although these are pretty big, you can actually find sunflowers much bigger than this around the countryside. There are also a lot of bees around them too so you have to be careful. Video by Jim Atwood Photography at http://www.jimatwood.ne
